Signature Session with Chov Theanly

The Gallerist is pleased to announce the launch of a limited-edition print series by Cambodian artist Chov Theanly, taking place on Thursday, 18 June 2026, from 5 PM at The Gallerist Phnom Penh.

The event offers collectors and audiences a unique opportunity to meet the artist, engage in conversation about his practice, and acquire limited-edition printed reproductions of selected original paintings from two interconnected series: Surviving and Looking Forward.

Developed from an ongoing body of work first initiated in 2012, these works continue Theanly’s long-term engagement with individuals he has encountered throughout Cambodian cities and rural villages. Old women, old men, young children, young men, young women, artists, all connected in a similar pose and background capture the Cambodian society united by the same goal, that of wanting to achieve their dream and rise up.

The limited-edition reproductions are printed on Hemp Hahnemühle paper, a premium archival paper renowned for its durability, refined texture, and rich tonal depth. Carefully produced to preserve the atmosphere and detail of the original paintings, the edition offers audiences an opportunity to experience Theanly’s work in an intimate and collectible format.

My painting is about how people deal with these tensions, about how people fight for their own freedom, about what they accomplish to emancipate themselves.”
