About

Our philosophy

"Art matters", is the motto of the contemporary art space of The Gallerist, located in the iconic street 240 in the heart of Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

Our art space  was elaborated with a minimalist set up to highlight the artists’ masterpieces. Our aim was to create an elegant contemporary art gallery to exhibit today’s artists from Cambodia and the region.

Our story

Contemporary art is a world of questions more than answers, a subjective perception of our surroundings and society, arousing interrogations about ourselves and others. Today’s artists have the ability to breathe life into the art industry and shake our routine.

The Gallerist selects contemporary artists, creating a strong relationship and feeding dialogues and exchanges. Working with living artists is a unique opportunity to engage conversation and witness the evolution in their artworks. In the tapestry of Cambodian society, art emerges not merely as a form of beauty but as a dialogue for memory, and healing, fostering a deeper connection to cultural identity and shared experiences.

Focusing on the high-end art market and aiming to bring international excellence and aesthetics to the capital, The Gallerist works with some of the best contemporary artists and designers, ranging from mid-career emerging artists to established artists. Our curator carefully selects pieces to build a visual conversation between the artists, enabling visitors to explore the abstract and figurative interpretations of nature, society and human soul.
